You can marry at the Abbey of San Galgano with a civil or a symbolic ceremony. Below is a summary of the locations, times and costs set by the Municipality of Chiusdino. Villa Le Querce, 2.5 km away, is the ideal venue for the reception.

Every day of the year except January 1 and 6, Easter Sunday and Monday, April 25, May 1, June 2, August 15, and December 8, 24, 25 and 26. No ceremonies are held at the Abbey of San Galgano in the second half of July, which is reserved for cultural events.
No more than 3 ceremonies a day at the abbey: one in the morning, one in the afternoon (starting at least one hour before closing time) and one in the evening (starting by 11 pm).
Maximum duration: 50 minutes.
Request to respect the times chosen for the celebration.
Until 2027, a table and seating for the couple, witnesses and guests are provided by the Municipality and included in the fee.
From January 1, 2028 couples may arrange the setup themselves; using the Municipality's chairs and tables costs an extra €200 (VAT included).
The setup (description or photos) must be approved by the Municipality at least 60 days in advance. It is installed in the 40 minutes before the ceremony and removed within 30 minutes after it.
Setups that differ from the approved one: €200 penalty, and the Municipality's furniture must be used.
No rice, petals or confetti indoors: at the abbey they are allowed outside only.
No refreshments or aperitifs, either inside or outside the abbey.
Responsibility for damage to the spaces.
VAT included: fees in force for 2026 and 2027, with the fees approved for 2028 in brackets.

Abbey of San Galgano, Sala Capitolare and Scriptorium:
During office hours: €1,700 (2028: €1,800).

Office hours: Monday to Friday 9 am–1 pm (starting by noon) and Tuesday and Thursday 3–5 pm (starting by 4 pm). Outside office hours: all other times, Saturdays and Sundays. Night: 8 pm to midnight.
For couples where at least one partner lives in Chiusdino or is registered with its AIRE (latest table published by the Municipality).
Sala del Consiglio Comunale/Piazza del Plebiscito: Free.
Abbey of San Galgano, Sala Capitolare and Scriptorium:
During office hours: €300.
Outside office hours: €500.
Night: €1,000.
After closing time, symbolic ceremonies only: €2,500.
Email the Civil Registry Office (servizidemografici@comune.chiusdino.siena.it) with the couple's names and the chosen date and time, attaching both partners' ID documents. Bookings for 2028 have been open since August 18, 2026.
The fee is paid to the Municipality's Treasury in two installments: 50% within 10 days of the date being confirmed (with the receipt sent to the Office within 5 days), the balance at least 60 days before the ceremony.
No refund is due if the couple cancels; if the Municipality cancels for exceptional reasons, the amounts already paid are refunded.

Symbolic ceremonies and wedding promises take place in the abbey church, the Chapter Hall and the Scriptorium, last no more than 50 minutes and are officiated only by Municipality staff.
Subject to the same rates and payment methods as civil weddings. The abbey may be closed to the public during the ceremony, for up to 60 minutes.
